1. Who we are
Woodbridge Insurance LLC ("RLi," "we," "us," or "our") is a Delaware limited liability company headquartered at 6680 Alhambra Ave., #109, Martinez, CA 94553. We operate the Renter Lease Insurance product and the associated website at rl-insure.com and mobile application ("the App").

2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Identity information: First name, last name, date of birth
- Contact information: Mobile phone number, email address
- Residential information: Current and prior addresses, length of tenancy, rental amount
- Employment and income information: Employer name, employment status, monthly income, self-employment details
- Financial information: Bank account (last 4 digits only), assets, other income sources
- Identity verification: Social Security Number (last 4 digits only for application purposes)
- Co-occupant information: Names and relationships of other occupants you choose to disclose
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, app version
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, time spent in the App
- Log data: IP address, timestamps, error logs
2.3 Information from third parties
- Credit bureau data: We obtain a soft credit inquiry from Experian to determine your FICO band for underwriting. This does not affect your credit score.
3. How we use your information
- To evaluate and underwrite your lease insurance application
- To issue and administer your policy
- To verify your identity and prevent fraud
- To communicate with you about your application, policy, and account
- To report successful policy payments to Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion (helping you build your credit score)
- To process claims and pursue subrogation recovery where applicable
- To comply with applicable laws and regulatory requirements
- To improve our products and services
4. How we protect your information
All personally identifiable information (PII) is stored using AES-256-GCM envelope encryption. Each record uses a unique data-encryption key, which is itself encrypted by a master key held in Google Cloud Key Management Service (KMS) with automatic 90-day rotation. No plaintext PII is stored in our database.
Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel only. All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS.
5. Information sharing and disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: Experian (credit inquiry), Twilio (SMS verification), and cloud infrastructure providers (Google Cloud Platform) under data processing agreements
- Reinsurance partners: Aggregated, non-personally-identifiable portfolio data may be shared with reinsurance counterparties for underwriting and risk management
- Landlords: We share your policy status and certificate number with your landlord as part of the coverage verification process
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or regulatory authority
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger or acquisition, your information may be transferred to the successor entity
6. Data retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your policy is active and for a minimum of seven years thereafter to satisfy insurance regulatory record-keeping requirements. You may request deletion of non-regulatory data at any time (see Section 8).
7. Your rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information (subject to regulatory retention requirements)
- Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format
- Opt-out of credit reporting: You may opt out of positive payment reporting to credit bureaus (note: this will prevent the credit-building benefit of RLi)
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@rl-insure.com with your full name, phone number on file, and the specific request. We will respond within 30 days.
8. California residents (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We do not sell personal information. California residents may submit rights requests to privacy@rl-insure.com or by calling our support line at 1-800-555-0100 (placeholder — update before launch).
9. Children's privacy
Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with information, please contact privacy@rl-insure.com and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you via email or in-app notification. Your continued use of our services after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
